John Ciccarelli is an experienced videographer and photographer, with more than a decade of experience in digital and creative arts.
John currently is working at EPA Region 5 as their senior Videographer.
He served as a multimedia specialist and project manager in the U.S. Navy, followed by three years of video production training in the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts MFA program.
This hands-on experience involved everything from creative development for a pilot TV program in Los Angeles to full-scale project leadership for military videos in the remote South Pacific. Most recently, John was a member of the art department and production team for a History Channel reality series in the remote mountains of North Idaho and worked on the production team for a short independent film.
At USC, he developed a documentary and helped produce the TV pilot “Boots,” and completed work on several short films. Prior to USC, John specialized in video production; combat, studio and aerial photography; and feature and spot story writing as a senior U.S. Navy journalist. While on location throughout the Pacific Rim, he filmed in locations ranging from an open-door helicopter at 3,000 feet to the cramped quarters of a diesel submarine hundreds of feet underwater.
Throughout his six years in the Navy, John amassed several thousand hours of video footage and numerous honors, including the prestigious Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal in 2010, and Joint Service Commendation Medal in 2009.
John has served as a member of visual arts groups including the National Association of Naval Photography, the Sandpoint (Idaho) Filmmakers Network, and the Hawaii Camera Club, in addition to lending his skills to community events and film festivals.
He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from USC with an emphasis in photography and is proficient in programs including Final Cut Studio, Avid, and the Adobe Creative Suite. He is experienced in outdoor filmmaking and drone videography.
