Jamila Bishop is a Chester, Pennsylvania born actress. She is currently involved in the production of a new EMN Network TV series Truth Hurts, the feature film Forbidden, and a host of other projects in various genres. Jamila has also recently completed a TV pilot tilted Three D and an episode of Destination America’s A Haunting.
Jamila studied with playwright, director, and producer, David E. Talbert, Kenneth McGregor, and actress Tasha Smith. She has also taken classes at TVI Studios (New York) with casting directors such as Jeanine Bartel and Allison Shomer. Additionally, Jamila took theatre classes at Pennsylvania State University while simultaneously receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Sociology and her associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies.
Jamila’s love of acting has led her to appear in numerous productions such as the independent film Her Little Secret, a PBS short film Quakers: The Quiet Revolutionaries and theatre productions such as Rhythm of Success, Sunday Brunch, And Here We Go Again and The Things Church People Won't Say.
Jamila’s greatest ambitions are to star in a John Singleton film and to be an Oscar Award contender. Outside of acting Jamila enjoys spending time with family, friends, reading, and traveling. Jamila also enjoys dancing Bachata, Merengue, and Salsa.
