Cupboard Girl
Drama
by Yue Ran (Drama)
Editor Cupboard Girl is a Japanese psychological short film released in 2020.
We follow Tsuki, an enigmatic teenage girl whose neglecting yet overprotective mother raised with a severe lack of social and survival skills. Tsuki's world swings between a naive childlike existence and being an independent adult. She tries to comprehend the fine line that separates reality from nightmare as she often takes refuge in her private little cupboard. This psychological and surreal drama was written and directed by Yue Ran and inspired by Ian McEwan's short story "Conversation with a Cupboard man".
