Sue Swenson

As a female lead writer (with my writing partner, Joe Turner), I focus on developing rich, nuanced roles and stories from a woman’s perspective directed specifically to actresses.

My passion for screenwriting was ignited when I took my first acting class in 1998 in Scottsdale, AZ. I continued taking acting classes in both Scottsdale and Phoenix and also Portland, Oregon. These classes in theater, TV and film, improvisation, stand up and sketch classes taught me how to construct a quality scene.

I have also taken numerous writing classes both in a classroom and online. I have trained and studied under Robert McKee who wrote STORY, Hal Croasmun, ScreenwritingU, Chris Soth, the master of the Mini-Movie Method, David Wisehart, a rewrite expert, Jim Sallee, a novelist and short story writer, and many others. I’ve taken courses in creative writing, playwriting, screenwriting and short story writing.

In 2008 and 2009 I wrote, hired a professional director and produced 17 (3-5 minute) comedy videos in Phoenix which were uploaded onto 50 Internet sites including YouTube, FunnyorDie and Vimeo.

I learned more from producing these short films that I ever learned from acting and writing.
