ELEVATED
By Cecelia Fresh

GENRE: Comedy
LOGLINE:

When a corporation acquires a luxurious wellness resort where mindfulness and fantasy collide - spirits around the resort use mystical influences to guide the actions of staff and guests - revealing the illusion of commoditized spirituality.

SYNOPSIS:

Elevated isn't your typical wellness resort.

Intended for upper-income, rich demographics the 5-star resort encourages its visitors to seek out magical journeys through private sessions with specialists that are masters and healers - psychics, astrologers, shamans, yogis and experts in their field.

The illusion of a magical experience is of no consequence for guests at the resort, allowing any wish to be indulged; but there is a price to be paid. The question is…by who?

Highly-polished corporate marketing drives the volume of traffic through the resort’s roof - literally. This divergence from the slower, “unplugged,” pace of the sacred and mystical grounds the resort sits upon makes the natives restless.

Herein begins the mystical reveals and the metaphorical departure from its inception - to the eventual physical exodus of not only the specialists, but the staff and the guests.

Excellent idea, but missing the core of the story.

Maurice Vaughan

Hi, Cecelia Fresh. Unique concept. I can see this as a funny movie.

I agree with Nathan Kors. You have the antagonist (the mystical forces) in the logline, but who's the main character? What's the main character's goal? What are the stakes?

Cecelia Fresh

Thanks Nathan and Maurice! Great feedback. I appreciate it! So...the mystical force IS the main character/protagonist. (: I'm fleshing out the logline to reflect that, stay tuned...

You're welcome, Cecelia Fresh. Ok, I see. The mystical forces are the main character.

I think you still need the main character's goal and the stakes in the logline.

Something like: "When a corporation acquires a luxurious wellness resort where mindfulness and fantasy collide, mystical forces try to _______ (goal of story) so ________ (stakes)." I'm not sure where "drive guests and staff to behave out of character" will fit though.

Thank you, @Maurice Vaughan. That is wonderful feedback and input. I will see what I can do to tighten it up a bit more based on this :)

Rutger Oosterhoff

Influencing how? Do the guests enyoy themselves more? --- Stakes!!! Losing leads to hell!!

Cecelia Fresh

@Rutger Oosterhoff good insight!! Fleshing this out for sure. Stay tuned ☺️
