About Makgano

Makgano Mamabolo is a Showrunner Filmmaker that graduated from AFDA (The African School of Film and Dramatic Arts) and has been a filmmaker for the past 20 years. She moves very comfortably from in front of the camera, to behind the scenes, as a Creative Producer, Scriptwriter, Director and an Actress. She has performed in a spectrum of genres from film, sitcom, drama, presenting, commercials, soap opera, telenovela, as well as theater... having starred as Miss Kwa Kwa - her own one woman stage production, in theaters country wide, for four years (which has since been adapted into a second novel)
She has just wrapped the 150 episode drama series: LITHAPO that she Creative Produced for Quizzical Pictures, after the resounding success of her comedy cinema debut in the multi-award winning film: ZULU WEDDING.
In her time as MD of Puo Pha Productions, she is proud to have produced the hit TV series: SOCIETY, as well as the critically acclaimed documentary: SKULLS OF My PEOPLE that has since won two international awards to date, and five South African Golden Horn awards. She was the Associate Producer on the Out In Africa feature film: While You Weren’t Looking, that had it’s world premier at the Torino Film Festival, and has won four international awards to date.
She has had the honor of being on the SAFTA - Golden Horn Awards judging panel for two years and currently sits on the Board of the African Craft Trust since 2011. Makgano Mamabolo is also a Master of Ceremonies, a Voice over artist, and has sat on numerous panels in discussing the Film and Television industry as a South African female Show-Runner.
