Hello. My name is Kristen. I am a brand new voice over actress. I started voice acting in January 2012 and already have been cast into about 10 projects. I would love to connect with other voice over artists. :)

I'm incredibly proud of this short. I went into it extremely nervous (I'm primarily an actor and this was my first time taking on the director's mantle) but the cast and crew made this thing shine. It's a lighthearted comedy trying to blend modern humor with some Billy Wilder-esque screwball comedy. I hope you enjoy it!
I'm not entirely sure if this is the right board, I didn't see one specifically for festivals. I recently directed my first short, it's all finished and we've been submitting to festivals; we wanted to hold a premiere in the city in May, something we can have our friends and family come to as well as invite agents, press, and the like. However, I also know that a lot of festivals want exclusivity; would a festival be upset if we held a one-time theatrical screening and reject us based on that?

I've attached the trailer made with what we have so far, and the reaction has been astounding, with over 1,500 views in the first five hours. Our plan is to premiere at Palm Springs, but we need a little help with funding to make sure we get there; our Kickstarter is almost funded, but with two days left we're hoping to find some investors interested in an Executive Producer credit to throw in a few hundred. If you like the trailer, please consider looking at the Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2105181880/uncle-gareth-a-comedy-ab...

At this point, I'm about to direct a large-scale project for the first time. The script is a fairly original comedy that I've worked on quite a bit, and we have an incredible cast and crew attached--I can't stress how surprised I've been by how well everything's gone, outside of the funding. Our crowdfunding campaign isn't going terribly well, and while I'm developing backup plans I would love it if you guys could take a look at it. Any help is vastly appreciated, even if it's just advice. Here's the link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2105181880/uncle-gareth Thank you for your time, Chris

Expand commentHey Chris, I'm a filmmaker in NYC also. Congrats for getting this far. I think you should just make a short no-budget version of the film OR at least make one or two scenes - THAT will sell it a lot better than actors describing the script or talking about how great the film will be, in my humble opinion. The concept is quite low-concept but it seems that the appeal of this is the eccentric main character Uncle Gareth, so my suggestion would be to shoot whatever you can that features Uncle Gareth in whatever comedic situations he finds himself in - EVEN IF they're not part of your main script. You need to make a commercial for the Uncle Gareth character. if people want more Uncle Gareth, they gotta give you the $15k to make the movie. My 2 cents. Good luck bro
A little sneak peek of what we've done so far.

Annie Hall was originally a murder mystery. Amazing what editing can do, isn't it?

I'm excited to be on here and just talk to a lot of people who love film and theater so I can steal their tricks. As long as their tricks cost no money. Looking forward to talking to you all and stealing your personalities!
