About Anastasia

Anastasia Starova is a Ukrainian writer and filmmaker based in Canada. She has been an active member of the film and media production community for over 10 years - studying, working, and creating internationally across fields such as broadcast & online journalism, film & tv production, and post-production. Her credits include Justin Lin’s "F9", Guillermo del Toro’s "The Shape of Water", and John Logan’s "Penny Dreadful" among others. She has also independently written, produced, and directed a number of short films and documentaries.

Currently, Anastasia is working on expanding her writing portfolio - she is developing a TV pilot, two feature screenplays, and working on a series of short stories. Anastasia is a member of the Producer's Guild of America, and she lives and works in Montreal. She holds a BA in Cinema Studies from the New Sorbonne University in Paris, and she studied film production at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and at the Sheridan College in Toronto.

Anastasia offers storytelling consulting with a specialty focus on Eastern European and Slavic cultures as well as character development. She also offers VFX consulting for independent and emerging filmmakers.
