About Michael

Mike Schlenoff, affectionately known as Schlenny, is an independent songwriter and musician. Raised on and roused by 20th century popular music, Schlenny's style evokes sentiments of American roots, traversing the rhythms of Tin Pan Alley, the visceral storytelling of country music and the grit of rock & roll. Before venturing out on his own, Schlenny toured nationally as the lead guitarist for Berklee alumni, Mornin’ Old Sport, and was a distinct part of Boston's underground jug-funk band, The Hogstompers. In 2014, he released his debut solo album Muse’s Morals. Now working out his latest demo tracks, Schlenny combines soul and study to create fun and informed live and recorded music.

Muse's Morals (2013 - 2014)
Music by Schlennymusic Writer, arranger, performer Consisting of nine original songs, "Muse's Morals" is an impressive display of songwriting and diverse musical arrangement. The album is available on CD and vinyl, digital download or free streaming on bandcamp. Poetically abstract, yet approachable, "Muse's Morals" delivers soul-bearing insight into the mind of the artist. Co-arranged with producer James Strazza, the album journeys masterfully through multiple genres. Tracks like "Bunting for Home" are clearly inspired by Schlenoff's self-proclaimed love for The Great American Songbook, while "Out of My Head" takes a darker turn into sounds reminiscent of Jack White and Iggy Pop. Cohesively crafted, Muse's Morals is an authentic ride through the trials and tribulations of the human heart and mind, leaving listeners ready to hear more.
Mornin' Old Sport Summer Tour 2012 (2011 - 2012)
Music by Misery Loves Co. Lead Guitarist/Piano Played lead guitar on an eight week, coast to coast, 45 city national tour. Hogstompers (2008 - 2012)
Music by YesOuiSi Productions Rhythm guitar/vocals/songwriter The Hogstompers were an underground DIY band performing in the Boston area from 2008-2012. Full of energy, the band fused old time jug band music and soul/funk to create Jug-Funk music. Consisting of 7 music and fine arts students, the band was full of talent and heart, and shook up the Boston underground scene for 5 solid years.
