I write Afro-futurist fantasy about the Black experience with ourselves, with community, with systems, and structures. I'm interested in how transformation takes place on a personal and a community level. How do we maintain community while living in an individualistic culture? How do we maintain connection in an increasingly isolating digital age? What does a positive future for Black people worldwide, and thereby all people, look/feel/smell/taste/sound like?
I am a visual thinker and the human heart as my playground. When I direct I am focused as much on what is expressed through movement, color, light, and sound as on what my characters are saying & doing. I have completed one independently produced narrative feature, some shorts, several micro-videos, and many screenplays. At this stage I am looking to build a team of creators for long-term projects focused on the African Diaspora.
My long-term goal is to bring together the best and most eclectic group of international Black writer/directors to build a massive body of high-quality work. I am planning a series of "Concord Conversations" to help build the blueprints with creators who straddle the lines between the practical and the infinite. I have been lucky enough to build my leadership skills helping transform the world as a non-profit executive. This work has helped refine my vision for spearheading a successful venture that unifies and inspired film writer/directors while supporting their work in seeing the light of day.
