Jose is an LA-based film composer and violinist. He is currently one of twenty in the Master's Screen Scoring program at the University of Southern California. Jose has worked as a freelance composer, scoring twelve films which range in style and character. His score for the short musical film “Blasted” won Best Score at LA Cinefest, and his score for the short dramatic film “The Deadlist” received a nomination for Best Score at Global Shorts. Jose has also written for television spots with his score for the commercial “Lauren’s Kids” airing on all major networks in Florida. His lively score for the feature-length documentary “The Spirit of Miami” will air on NBC Miami in November 2018 with a national release to follow in 2019.
Since he was a child, Jose has been enamored with the beauty of music and the emotions it can bring to a film. Jose picked up the violin at the age of four and later on, grew to love taking films such as The Lord of the Rings and playing his own music with the movie muted.
Jose is always interested in finding new sounds or unique style fusions to give a film its best voice. Some of Jose’s favorite films include Star Wars, Edward Scissorhands, The Pianist, The Lord of the Rings, and absolutely anything by Christopher Nolan. Aside from film scoring, Jose loves jamming out to musicals, kayaking, and sitting down with a friend for coffee.
