Lynn Steward, a veteran of the New York fashion industry, created the Dana McGarry series, set at a transformational time in the 1970s world of fashion and in the lives of multigenerational women. The novels "A Very Good Life" (2014) and "April Snow" (2015) introduce Steward's young protagonist Dana McGarry and her story is further developed over four seasons in a one-hour drama series "Cashmere."
