About Leander

My name is Leander Beatty Jr.

My life began in the slums / ghettoes of Brooklyn (The Real Brooklyn!), New York, many, many years ago. I would love to tell you that I am young and green, but in fact, I am the epitome of Johnny Cash's classic song, "I've Been Everywhere, Man". It's true. I have been traveling since the age of fifteen and I have set foot in every state in the United States except Hawaii and Alaska. And, as odd as it may sound, Alaska is the place I want to visit most of all.

My career has been all about writing. I have a long list of short stories that have been published and I began writing screenplays in 1993. I have one under my belt, "Alive, Alaska" (with a big shout out and Thank You to Mr. Lloyd Boyd of Canada, who was a godsend in getting this one on paper). The others, "All About Face" and "Brothers of Benevolence" are still in the formatting stage. I hope to complete these by the end of this year, time permitting.

I also wish to add stage plays to my library, with Christian plays as the main focus. This, I pray, will also be completed very soon.

Other than that, there is not much to add to this bio. As stated, I am (a) born and bred New Yorker, a father, grandfather and great grandfather many times over. They all know my love for writing, but like so many loving children, they encourage me not to quit my day job any time soon. I wish to prove them wrong once or twice in my lifetime and perhaps with the help of the beautiful people on this site, I can make that a reality.

Then, I can sit back and laugh, as they try to get back on my good side (thinking they are going to get my "fortune" when God calls me home. We shall see. God willing, I am not going anywhere any time soon, or at least not until I see a work or two on the big screen.

Thank you and God bless all of you,
