About Mark

Mark Houser is the former Chair of Fine Arts and current Director of Theatre at Dixie State University. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Acting and Directing and a Master of Fine Arts in Arts Administration. Mark has recently served as the Director for DSU's productions of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, Abridged (Revised), Nightfall with Edgar Allan Poe, James and the Giant Peach, Man of La Mancha and director, co-writer and editor of an original devised adaptation of Herman Melville's Moby Dick, produced in January 2016.

Mark’s career in the Arts began with the Tony Award Winning Utah Shakespearean Festival where he served in every capacity from performance to technical and business, allowing him the opportunity to learn the business and the craft. He has been successfully training actors privately for stage and screen for 17 years.

Mark has served and continues to serve as a director, producer, writer, still photographer, camera man and director of photography for motion picture and television. Mark's recent award-winning film credits include: Steadicam - Where We Began, Mitzuyo Miyazaki, Still Photographer/Camera Dept. - Imagine - Jonathen Green, DP - Hammerhead - Dan Whalen.

    Film (Short, Drama, Mystery and Sci-Fi) Camera and Electrical Department A physiological drama about paramedic John Morris, (Scott Wolf, Party of five, GO, V) who has been living under a cloud of guilt after he was unable to save his daughter's life from drowning. Through the consumption of charged-water, water that has been influenced by specific thoughts or energy, an experiment held by Dr. Arlen, John begins to revisit his daughter through past memories in an dreamlike world. Through this healing process, memories that were once filled with the weight of guilt begin to speak truth.
