About Geoffrey

Geoffrey began performing on stage in 1974, at the age of fourteen, in a jr. high school theatrical production. He studied theatre and dance and also sang in a choir for the next 6 years. In 1980 he started teaching himself to play the guitar and began a rock and roll band and performed in local clubs, on Radio and Cable TV from 1980 - 1986. He began his recording label Avalon Services Publishing in 1985.

He studied video technology. Graduating in 1985, Geoffrey began working in video production and broadcast television. He continued to work in video until 1990.

In 1988 Geoffrey auditioned for Scarborough Faire, south of Dallas and began performing at Renaissance Faires throughout Texas. He discovered the folk harp in 1990. He was fascinated with the instrument and pursued a formal education in music composition, and harp performance.

He continued to perform at Renaissance faires as Geoffrey the Bard with his harp while studying at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. He had released his first harp recording Blind Mary within two years of touching a harp. He has since released, Out of a Dream, The Bardic Circle, Reflections, Bygones, The Vail and The PR Trio - LIVE. After making it through the University, Geoffrey established a harp department for Brook Mays Music Group, one of America’s largest music retailers, in 1995. He developed a method for teaching the harp and The Geoffrey Harp School was born. He has gained international recognition as a harpist and teacher.

In 1995 he established a harp/flute duo called Æolian Breeze. In 1998 Geoffrey began Dream Plane, a harp centered jazz and rock group who released a CD 'Out of a Dream' in 1999. In 1999 he established a harp ensemble The Bardic Circle. All of his groups have performed extensively around the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex, from a reception for Miss Texas 1999 to The Shakespeare Festival of Dallas. He was harpist and singer for The P. R. Jazz Trio. In 2002 Geoffrey established The Texas Men’s Harp Ensemble, the only all male harp orchestra in the world.

In 1999 he opened a music store in Bedford, Texas called Harps of Avalon. Geoffrey is now concentrating entirely on his harp method, composing music, acting performing and arranging. The Geoffrey Harp School is now located in the historic district of Grapevine, Texas.
