About Annalie

Some writers and actors I love: Martin McDonagh, Anna Jordan, Shakespeare, Donald Glover, Pamela Adlon, Michaela Coel, Kate Winslett, Anthony Hopkins, Lakeith Stanfield, Frances McDormand, and LOADS MORE...oh hang on this is supposed to be about me. Ok: I am an actor and also a singer and I compose and play my own songs. I've also written music for film and theatre. As an actor I love to play roles that challenge me and I've been scarred by many of my characters that I've fallen in love with. I'm not a typical leading lady, I'm not a typical anything really. My strengths are genuineness, humour, fearlessness and a willingness to be vulnerable. I'm a good sightreader, I can learn lines easily, pick up accents, dance, play a multitude of instruments. I like the gut-wrenching stuff and the offbeat comedy. Stuff that makes you laugh and cry at the same time. Stuff that has a point to it. I like scripts that sound like the best bits of what real people say. Or what you wish they would say. I like working with people who are not afraid to lift the lid and look underneath, who don't just go with the same tired old cliches. I'm an activist and generally ready to get fired up and lend my passion to numerous causes, especially when they relate to racial equality, environmentalism, feminism and LGBTQ rights. Regarding ethnicity, I am not Caucasian, I have never been to the Caucasus mountains - although I would love to since I am deep into Georgian folk music. I don't like this word as it's based on an outdated and unscientific method of classifying human skulls that was used by racists to identify people of colour as inferior. Let's stop using it eh? I'll happily share my weight if we're entering a boxing ring or a bouncy castle. Otherwise forget it. And my precious, long suffering, incredibly resilient, beautiful body will not be found somewhere between "slim" and "average."
