Charles started acting in school plays and local theater productions. He attended college majoring in Communications and Theater. He worked as the Director's Assistant for "Sunday Night Live" at Oral Roberts TV Productions. During the early 1980's, Charles worked as a cameraman, set and lighting designer for WTNH-TV New Haven, Connecticut. During this time he also acted in several plays for the Orange Players in Orange, Connecticut. Charles moved on to be the Manager/Executive Producer for 4 Local Origination Studios in Andover, Massachusetts owned by Telecommunications, Inc.
During this time, Charles was involved in producing, directing, editing and remote field production. He was a member of the Harvard Square Scriptwriters. Most notably, Charles scripted, produced, directed, edited and provided voice over for a documentary on the plight of Leatherback Sea Turtles which was distributed to Sea Aquariums worldwide.
