A graduate from LA Film School, Vassallo served for several years as an independent Managing Director and Producer in Los Angeles where he specialized in raising equity within the media, private sector, and entertainment industry in the international platform. In 2003, Joseph was a key player in raising 4.9 million (US) dollars for feature film, in collaboration with Mirage Productions in Dubai.

During his tenor at Walt Disney Studios and ABC/Touchtone Television, Vassallo's writing skills for comedy awarded him a seat in the writer's room of ABC's Golden Globes & Awards Winning Sitcom “My Wife & Kids” where he served as, Writing Consultant. Joseph gifted talent to write in genre's across the board helped him sell and option several screenplays through the years and to negotiate a deal for a TV Series with a Hollywood Studio. In addition to his portfolio, Joseph is the author of a book.

In 2005 Vassallo joined with President Damon Wayans in building WayoutTV into the growing independent Web, Film and Television Entertainment Studio. At WayoutTV, Vassallo served as Vice President to the studio and went on to Produce, Write and Direct a variety of comedy sketches, 4 television half hour pilots, 6 (15-60) second Commercials, and created and produced multiple webisodes for WayoutTV. Through strict financial discipline, daring creative choices, organic growth of the Company's core businesses, and accretive strategic acquisitions, Vassallo served as a key player in leveraging Wayout's content into fresh digital media initiatives.

Joseph’s talents cross platform in front of the camera. In the 1980′s, Vassallo moved to New York City and enrolled at the “Herbert Berghof Studio” where he studied acting. In 1987, Vassallo settled in Los Angeles and continued to pursue the traditional rout in acting and continued to study the craft at the “Stella Adler Academy” and “The Joanne Barron/DW Brown Studios”, in Hollywood, California. Between New York and Los Angeles, Vassallo appeared in eighteen stage plays. In the early 1990′s Vassallo appeared for the first time on television in a commercial for the cruise line “Royal Caribbean”. Since then, Vassallo has endorsed over 100 national television commercials in the United States, one of which, for “Twix”, won the Gold Award at the New York Film Festival. In 1994, Vassallo appeared in the movie "Blankman", opposite Damon Wayans, Jason Alexander and Jon Pulito. This was followed by feature film roles in “The 4th Tenor” opposite the funny Rodney Dangerfield, “Just Married” opposite Ashton Kutcher and Brittany Murphy and the drama feature “My Brother Jack” opposite Marco Leonardi of “Cinema Paradiso”. In 2004, Vassallo re-teamed with Damon Wayans for the feature film "Behind the Smile". In 2009, Joseph co-stared opposite Academy Award Winner Forest Whitaker and comedian Carlos Mancia in the comedy motion picture, “Our Family Wedding”. Just to mention a few, Vassallo’s television credits include guest appearances on Award Winning Shows such as "Diagnosis Murder", "The West Wing", "Alias", "Damon", and recurring guest roles on "My Wife and Kids".
