Hi! It's Aileen 'been around a long time' Kilburn again. Borrowing a line from "The Big Knife." Saw a complaint about a critique. Just wanted to say 'coverage' is always good if you know how to use it. First of all you must know your characters and what you're aiming for in your story. And know that the reader is only giving suggestions--granted some are idiotic but it's up to you to know what to take and what to ignore. If he/she suggests you get rid of a character, they could be right but if it's a character you feel is necessary, what you do is rewrite the part so that the character is indispensable. It's always a shock when you think your script is ready to go and a reader finds a million things wrong. Pout for a day or two then get to work writing the story YOU want to write. I learned this lesson after years of changing my story according to anybody and everybody's suggestions and then ending up with a "billowing bale of bovine fodder" as the wizard said in "The Wizard of Oz." It's probably why there's such a thing as 'development hell' that I read about at Stage 32. WELCOME EVERYONE!

This New York Times article on the 2016 summer movie season is an interesting read. The reason for so many big budget summer flops was? 1. Movie fans don’t want to spend fifteen dollars? 2. Movie fans are looking for something fresh? 3. Film industry folk misread what the public was looking for? 4. Film industry folk overestimated the intelligence and discerning taste of the movie going public? 5. Hi Everybody, I've been posting but never introduced myself. Truth is I just figured out how. What a dummy! Well, this is Aileen "been around a long time" Kilburn. In the movies, I've watched us go from innocence to the anti-hero to just plain sex and violence. There's not much I can relate to so I'm starting a new genre, "Crossover Christian". Action/Horror movies with no cursing, no explicit sex, not overly violent for the middle of the road Christian like me, but too much for the devout Christian. Think it'll work?

Well, let me get in before time is up. I'm an actor, screenwriter, playwright. I started out as an actress but something always disqualified me from attending a lot of casting calls so I started writing plays for myself. I've branched out into writing screenplays and entering contests and got as far as quarterfinalist in 2014 (Scriptapalooza). Now that I'm old as the hills, I hear all this mess about ageism. Ya just can't win, but I'll keep on keeping on and if the Lord willing there will be a movie with "introducing Aileen Kilburn".

Hi Jake, You're the first to invite me to connect. Glad to see you're a Born Again Christian. I'm sure you put this flawed Catholic to shame. I've been writing screenplays action/horror with a Christan tinge to them. My main problem is "subtext" so I took one of those webinars and it helped a lot, so it's back to re-writing. Fortunately, I like re-writing. I call my brand "Crossover Christian"--no cursing and no explicit sex but too violent for die hard Christians. (violence akin to the kind found in the Bible.). This looks like the place to be. What's on my mind? I didn't get "The Neon Demon." A couple walked out of the theater and I couldn't blame them. It angered me that it started out so good and turned into &@"#.
