Growing up I had 5 imaginary friends and was always accused of daydreaming by my teachers. I would wander off inside my head, explore story lines, meet strange and wonderful characters and have very long conversations with them. Now I still do that, but can call it being a screenwriter. I have a MA in Screenwriting from UCT and a Masters in Fine Art. I love dance and performance art and have even done a stint as a singer in an electro-goth punk band. I am classified as a white South African but I have 5 slave ancestors (discovered so far) and 1 Khoi San Ancestor. I find that history, culture and the construction of identity informs all my stories. I like to work out why people do the things they say and do. My writing is a form of self-understanding and self-healing. I am a Feminist and an Equality Activist. I love to learn and to teach and in teaching I learn and grow, and so the circle continues.
