About Katherine
Katherine is an independent researcher, award-winning writer, and musician. She has a passion for history but also creativity; with respect to the latter, how it's expressed in the visual and performing arts. Her projects may be divided into two areas: those that relate to sound and music, and those that relate to science as applied to the study of artworks. Over the years, she has written for a variety of music and production/engineering trade magazines, scientific journals, along with an award-winning literary review. Since 2011, she has been affiliated with the remote recording studio, Le Mobile; and since 2012, multi-Grammy winning music producer, David May. She also shares an ongoing long-time research collaboration with artist and Humboldt Prize winning astrophysicist, Ed Belbruno.
With respect to film, she has been working on developing a book she wrote into a historical series. The book is based on her own 12-year journey into an important Italian painting she researched while in Italy. The story is heavily nuanced, multi-layered, and wrought with much symbolism, which has made it a tremendous challenge to adapt and complete.
In 2023, she wrote a short screenplay called, DINNER WITH DANTE, which is about a WWII widow and the unique relationship she strikes up over the course of her lifetime with the statue of Dante in the Piazza di Santa Croce in Florence, Italy. The story is set during the early post war years and is reminiscent of European experimental filmmaking in the 1950's/60's. Dinner with Dante also marks her debut as a screenwriter on the festival circuit. She hopes to go into production in Italy in 2024.
Unique traits: Likes to perform before her animals the mini operettas she's composed for them.
