About Robert

Until March of 2016, Robert McNamara was the Managing Director of Friends In Deed - a NYC non-profit founded by director Mike Nichols. (The organization closed in March.) Among his many duties was fundraising. He helped produce the 10th anniversary of RENT and PASSION on Broadway, as well as Mike Nichols' SHORT TALKS ON THE UNIVERSE. Back in the late 90's, he was hired by the Disney Studio to work on a screenplay - the prequel to WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT, which unfortunately never got made. Prior to this, Robert worked in marketing and advertising. Over the course of several years, he had various positions on the account and creative side of the business, including a period as director of writing. Before embarking on a marketing career, Robert worked in theatre and film as an actor. His theatre career included stints as an actor, singer, and writer. He worked in regional theatre, toured in various productions and performed in many off-off Broadway productions. He was one of the co-creators of “Manhattan Breakdown” a musical that was staged at Lincoln Center, and was also the writer for a comedy team. In recent years, Robert returned to performing part-time when he made his NYC cabaret debut as a singer. He is currently living in New Mexico has recently joined a writer's group and is at work on several scripts. A scene from one of my plays was in the One Act Play Festival in Las Cruces in March. Also performed in The Laramie Project in town in 2018. In February of 2019, played the role of Danforth in THE CRUCIBLE.
