About Jessica

I have been writing my entire life, from my first epic "The Man Who Depended on a Toad" in second grade. (Well my mom loved it!) After earning a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University, I reported and wrote news for TV and radio for three different stations in Upstate New York. I worked in various broadcast entities before moving to Sydney, Australia for 5 years where I ran a talent agency my last 2 years there. I have written job descriptions, training and procedure courses and manuals for just about every employer I have worked for, including my current temporary position teaching computer skills at a local school district. Check out some of my student Cyber Safety Month Videos on Ellentube.

My first true fiction piece with dialogue was written at the request of the most talented musician I know who happened to be teaching music at my kids' school in Australia. She was teaching my son's combined 4th and 5th grade class about using emotion in song to tell stories. They came up with a theme - What if the Princes and Princesses in Fairytales not only knew their story was already written, but didn't want to follow the story? For the most part, they had chosen what type of character they wanted to be. With years of writing "just the facts," I was sure I wouldn't be able to write dialogue. But knowing the kids and the story line, the words just flowed. They presented the musical to the school and I turned it into a screenplay. I have since written five more screenplays. I now feel ready to get at least some of those out into the world, including the very first "Un-Fairytale" - see a clip below.
