Introduction
1.
This is a story about a (11) seven year old boy name Kevin Baxter, who’s
Growing up in an atheist home. His mother Karen manages the local bank. His dad Carl, is a national trucker driver, and of course his 5yr. old sister Sarah, who thinks the world of him.
The Baxter’s were the only family in that little town who didn’t believe in God. His dad was real strict about bringing Religion of any kind in the house. His mother thought it best to go along with her husband for the sake of peace. However, going along with anything just wasn’t enough for Kevin.
Six years ago when Kevin was just five years old, he received a hunger to learn more about this man called Jesus. One night when his parents were asleep He wanted to watch TV. While flipping through the channels, he found a Christian program. Kevin began to cry as he listened to the people talk about the goodness of God and how he delivered their families, and brought them great peace. PEACE… he thought to himself, that’s what my mommy’s looking for… how do I find this peace? How can I get it for her so that she won’t be sad when daddy leaves for work, or when Sarah or I do something bad that she has to yell about, or when daddy closes their bedroom door and makes her cry. If mommy had peace…she wouldn’t have to cry anymore.
From then on, Kevin promised himself that no matter what it takes … he will buy his mommy some peace if it’s the last thing he does. At the end of that program, after Kevin makes that promise to himself, he heard the man who was talking a lot say: “Thank you Jesus for the Peace that you bring to our lives.” Jesus…Kevin said wiping the tears from his eyes. I have to find that man Jesus so that I can buy my mommy some peace. As he turned off the TV. He realized that he didn’t have any money other than his allowance in the amount of $3. 25. I sure hope Peace doesn’t cost a whole bunch. I hope that man Jesus can give me a line of credit. Mommy gives people credit at her job, so maybe that man name Jesus can give me credit from his.
This is the thought process of a 5 (five) year old. Now at the age of 11 (eleven) Kevin’s curiosity about Jesus has grown stronger and more intense. Kevin’s search for Jesus not only leads him to Jesus, but it also leads his family to the belief and great peace of Jesus Christ as well.
