About Breno

Born in Minas Gerais in November 1980, Breno Coelho´s passion for art has emerged still young during high school. He bought his first 35mm analogue photo camera and began his photography studies in the US in the year 2000. Inspired by the works of Helmut Newton, David Lachapelle and Oliviero Toscani, he became involved with fashion photography for a few years. Not long after that experience, back in Brazil, he worked in the dark room and photo studio of Faculdade Estácio de Sá (college) in Vitória, ES where he taught the students of Journalism and Advertising to techniques of film development, photo enlargement, lighting and composition. Other important influences of him in the world of the photography were Sebastião Salgado, Ansel Adams, Cartier-Bresson, among others.

Passionate about cinema he studied cinematography techniques, screenplays and film editing 16 and 35mm on Moviola editing table, in addition to Super8mm and later, digital. In 2009 he was appointed Citizen Ambassador by the United Nations once he won a UN video contest. Two months later he won another video contest in Copenhagen in Denmark during COP15 with another work, this time under the theme "Global Warming". As a Citizen Ambassador, he was a multiplier of important issues like the UN Millennium Goals.

He later deepened his knowledge of photography in a new area on his resume: stage lighting. He studied in depth theories and techniques of lighting for theater and musical concerts. Currently he works with photography, cinematography, scriptwriting and lighting.
