Expand postI started writing off my own back at about 14. I don't know what made me start except that I was inspired by a dream I had about falling to my death during a rooftop pursuit. (I think I was the pursuer if I remember correctly).
Since then I've dabbled with acting on stage and film, wrote and directed a 30s set noir thriller for the London fringe (The Shadow Formula), made two short films (The Cheat & God, Fat Moo) and worked on various novels, short stores, scripts and screenplays as well as profusely studying the art of storytelling.
Now I want to focus on that more. I'm currently finishing off a long-term project (having recently moved to the very remote Isle of Jura in Scotland I have a lot of time on my hands) and then I want to focus on screenwriting and teleplays. The current feature I'm working on is a kind of Western version of Heart of Darkness/ Apocalypse Now.
I tend to write degrees of fantasy or magic-realism. Sometimes the magic in my scripts isn't obvious but it's still there. I take an often skewed look at the everyday and try to normalise the magical.
I like to write interesting female characters, pepper my dialogue with quirky British humour and often tip-toe over to the dark side, you know, just to see what's going on.
I like working with others even just bouncing around ideas so don't be shy, send me a message and step into my strange world if you like.
Thanks Aray. Love the sound of your work.
A story that I've written, "Mad Cows and Englishmen," sounds like it might fit in with your oeuvre, as it were. Magic is real, and reality is magical, eh?
This isn't my first time in the introduce yourself lounge, but it always seems awkward talking about myself. lol

I put "occasional" screenwriter because it has been a long time since I tackled a new script. I focus on novels now (though I miss script writing) and have 20+ published novels. Mostly I love storytelling. I'm currently "hermiting" in Northern Wyoming and working on my next novel. :-)
Hey, if you've written at least one screenplay it makes you a screenwriter. Foregt that "occasionally". Glad you came out of your cave in Wyoming to say hi :)

Here's My idea It is about a clubhouse that is special because it's for kids with and without special needs for a family show It's about this boy named billy and his sister named Georgia and billy doesn't have a disability makes a clubhouse for his sister Georgia who has a disability on her birthdayAnd there she meets one of her bests friends Lilly and Piper and Lilly has a brother that's in a gang and he doesn't feel like the clubhouse is a good idea and Billy try's to Change his mind but he still try's to savatose the Clubhouse . So I think this show idea has a lot of potential here's why it theaches that special needs need respect and a lot of friends just because their different doesn't mean that they can have friends and it shows the love between a Brother and a Sister. I have 18 ideas and possibly more coming and 2 written already! And I really do believe it's what the world needs now. But I don't have the money for the show
Welcome to Stage 32!

I appreciate it's hard to distill an idea and still feel you're explaining everything, especially when it excites you so much but when presenting it to someone they need to get the overall idea fairly quickly without getting bogged down in unnecessary details.
I think you could just pitch it as a kids TV show in a clubhouse featuring a mix of performers with and without disabilities. I would have thought that would be enough.
Hope you have some luck with it.

Expand postHi Everyone, I love these introduce yourself weekends and I am introducing myself again :)
As well as being the Official Editor for Stage 32, I run my own Literary Editing business, One Voice Literary Agency.
I hail from South West Hertfordshire, which is just north of London in England. Since starting the business, I have edited everything from full length novels, children's YA and picture books, non fiction, articles, blogs, business reports and more. I also edit screenplays and scripts for members of Stage 32, one script I edited received full marks on all counts from the author's pitch with a request to see the script.
I am Features Editor for a new, free, quarterly, online magazine called Fringe, which centres around creativity and the arts. It's upbeat and positive with great articles and interviews and since its launch just before Christmas 2017, the magazine has received great feedback.
I am in the final stages of producing a poetry anthology called Poetic Wonders, that has been in the making for a few years. This is a very exciting project that includes my poems, plus the poems of five other very talented authors. It also includes an amazing foreword by Enoch Anderson, Barry Manilow's lyricist. Enoch's endorsement means so much. I am just waiting for some illustrations to be completed and then I will be able to announce a publication date.
I have successfully edited, produced and voice recorded a short story, written in rhyme called The Bear On Lonely Lake by Daniel Buckner. The story has been included in Poetic Wonders.
I really love what I do and I can help with all aspects of getting a piece of work to a high standard, while maintaining the integrity of the work, while keeping the author's 'voice' throughout.

Also, I miss my time in London - my family lived in St. John's Wood back in the late eighties. Have to get back there. When I was young, I remember watching on the "tele" all the people gathering at the Odeon in Leceister Square for The Living Daylights premiere! Next day I took the tube to the very same theater and went to an 11:00 a.m. screening and bought this special anniversary Bond book. (Still have a copy of this to this day.) Miss the Bangers and Mashed! Great to see you "re-introducing" yourself! GOD BLESS and STAY FRESH! ;)

Rosalind, you lead a very interesting life. I am glad that Stage 32 has you to help them. Bravo.
I received a message about the Introduce Yourself event, and thought I would do this.

I am someone who loves nature, art, books, and being ridiculous with friends and family. I have begun writing my first screenplay which I have decided I will shoot when it's finished. I have background, supporting and leading roles under my belt and I am determined to make my acting a career and my name a household name. Networking is huge on my list right now to get my name out there and to book more roles. My number one desire for 'making it big' is to be in such a position to positively inspire others globally. I want to take my passion and funnel it into meaningful art, and enjoy the process!
Thank you everyone!

One of my books received a starred review in Publishers Weekly, which means nothing to readers but a great deal to industry insiders. I'm also a writing instructor, editor, coach.
After years of my editor telling me that I 'set the scenes too much like a script,' and readers writing to tell me that my 'work is so visual, they could see it as if it were a movie,' I've decided to turn my pen to scripts. After some education, some not so great scripts, I've learned a great deal and am writing a series based on my award-winning trilogy, Da Vinci's Disciples.
Hi Donna, I have the same issue and think I might be better working at scriptwriting. Having said that with eight published works you are clearly doing something right!
Thanks so much everyone. Your encouragement couldn't come at a better time...I have a Skype pitch session this afternoon. Fingers crossed.
Welcome to the even more visual world of movie literature. You sound like a natural for the writer of an arresting movie.
