He is young, in a jungle setting, with two fanciful "instincts" guiding him as swooping bird-like acrobats initially menace, then delight. As an adolescent, he enters a desert, where a man spins a large cube of metal tubing. He leaves his instinct-guides behind, and enters a garden where two statues dance in a pond. As he watches their sensual acrobatics of love, he becomes a man. He is offered wealth (represented by a golden hat) by a devil figure. Boya does not drink human blood anymore but rats and pigeons blood instead. While in the donut shop, Boya befriends and protects the taxi driver Earl, who is having trouble with two criminals, and falls in love for the waitress Molly. This sets her on an escape from the lover on the streets of Toronto. Here she meets a hardened hooker named Ola who takes her in so she won't be arrested for vagrancy. Jennefer then decides to take up hooking to make money and has to learn to fend for herself and to protect herself from a demanding pimp named Hassan. When Hassan kills one of the street girls, it pits him against the others and against a detective out to bust him.
