Mason (2017)

Mason, the main character, is a gay farmer whose parents died from the PFOA water contamination, which wasn't prevalent at the time. Meanwhile, he is also dying from the water and his farm is in foreclosure. Because of Mason's sexuality, he has always been bullied and isolated, causing him to be lonely. Charlotte, Mason's feisty neighbor, is the only friend he's ever had. She has always defended him, which stems from her feelings for him and the guilt she feels for him being the outcast. She is married to Earl, but is having an affair with the town's sheriff, Bucky. He is the wealthiest character, owning some real estate in the next town. Bucky is trying to save Charlotte from her abusive husband and the water toxicity, by moving her into one of the houses.
