About Yakub

My name is Yakub Saputra, LA-based film composer from Indonesia. My credits include an upcoming TV Show "Foxy Lady" and a short film "Persevere." I come from jazz performance and orchestral composing and conducting background. I am passionate in blending orchestral sound, with ethnic instrumentation and electronics to create new fresh sound. I also love to write for an intimate acoustic indie vibe.

I received the full scholarship to attend Shepherd University, Los Angeles and the University of Houston to study jazz piano performance, film scoring, and composition, respectively. In 2016, I am honored to be the Runner Up of the International Lee Ritenour Six Strings Theory Competition with my composition "The Ride of Dream."
