About Jim

My love of movies and story began at an early age and I have been working on screenwriting for several decades now while holding down professional jobs. I currently am director of a career center with a small private university in Southeastern Iowa. In my pursuit of screenwriting, I have absorbed as much as I could with seminars, courses and of course reading screenplays. I took a screenwriting course and worked with coaches at the Jacob Krueger Screenwriting Studio in New York. In my writing journey, I feel a strong influence has been the practice of TM which has opened up the inner world of creativity and insight.

My first screenplay, Brothers After All, tells the untold story of the American Revolutions. Believe it not (and hard to believe with what is before us) the country was founded on the principles of brotherhood from a mystical organization. I did extensive research to verify. Back many years ago, ICM story coverage endorsed it be made into a major feature film. But at the time history pieces were difficult to make so went on to other scripts thinking to circle back to it at some point.

My second screenplay is the comedy If Pigs Could Fly. A military experiment to pacify hardened criminals through satellite transmissions gets accidently redirected to a small town in Iowa. Through all the changes it puts the towns folks through, in the end they get past the issues that previously dividing them and find the true meaning of community.

For my recent comedy, God's Plan B, the seed idea for this story came to me as what if God were pissed off at the mess on earth and fingers the male religious leaders who had their chance but didn't sustain anything. He decides it's the girls turn and sends this powerful, electrifying goddess to earth. I worked with writing coach Steven Moulton on this who works out of the Jacob Krueger Screenwriting Studio in New York,. Steven was ex-exec with HBO and Showtime. He has two movies on Netflix and teaches screenwriting at Columbia. Steven felt the screenplay was marketable, timely and possibly would be many actors interested in it as it's a main character never seen before.

I read once where Robert Redford said he always liked to have a mystical thread in his movies. I feel like that is where I am in my writing scripts as in the end everyone rises to higher ground but gets there through change, and the theme of the story

With my love of movies, I am here to share ideas, stories with this global community of creatives and industry professionals.

Cheers,
Jim
