About Rodrigo

My name is Rodrigo and this year I was selected by the Channel Fluxx network to make an animated pilot of horror.
I would like to tell you how I arrived at this moment in my life.
I was born in Valparaiso, Chile in 1971 in a family of middle-class workers of the University of Chile. During those years, I accompanied my father to his work after school and he was going to leave me for a few hours at the cinema that was in front of the office. There I saw many movies.
After high school, I had to decide what to study. In those years I played in a heavy metal band, but, faced with the precariousness of music in Chile, I wanted to study Graphic Design and someday work on Cartoons, whose professional career did not exist at that time.

That summer, before entering to study in a technical academy, I decided to look for my first job, and with 19 years I went to the forest body to fight fires in the mountains. It was very hard and death was always close, but I was satisfied with having chosen something important and useful as my first job, something that will help the community.
I studied in an academy and after a few years, I went to Santiago de Chile to work in a cartoon company that required people to finish a series for the French / Canadian market: Les Tribulations du Cabotin.
After a year, the company started having problems and I had to retire, destroying my chances of making a career in the world of cinema. So, I chose to do comics, and due to the precariousness of the work and having received my Italian nationality, I went to Europe, where I made covers for a magazine in Greece, I worked in comics and illustration in Italy. There I met Luigi Cozzi, director of series B films and made some covers for the museum of the horrors of Dario Argento, who is co-owner.
I traveled to Romania where I developed the Ligeia the Vampire series for a British mobile phone company called Rok comics. For three years I investigated the Vampire: folklore and myth in Central Europe.

I created a science fiction series for Arrow Publications in the USA and then, I was contacted by the film director Blair Erickson to make the storyboards of the horror movie The Banshee Chapter, produced by Zachary Quinto and being the first film for Oculus Rift.
I was studying a software to make interactive comics when I discovered the software Moho Pro (Anime Studio Pro) and it was the moment I I realized, like an epiphany that the years lost away from the animation industry that I loved could be recovered. I started to plan the Ligeia the Vampire series as an animated web series, I premiered it and started getting good reviews from the people who work in the media and the public.
So, I see the announcement of Channel Fluxx on Twitter that them financing one web series pilot, and well, I applied, I was selected and I made the pilot of a horror story written, animated and musicalized by me.
I still do not know if they have chosen it to make a complete series, but, the doors of the world of cinema and television have opened for me, I just have to go through them.
