When Mark writes a love song for Paul, a struggling musician he's just met, he soon discovers that he must overcome his own shyness and stutter in order to hold onto his last chance for happiness when David, his upstairs neighbor, who also has his eye on Paul, steals the song in order to seduce him.
SYNOPSIS:
MARK, 30s, is a lonely gay man living in West Hollywood. His only friends are lesbian neighbor FRAN, his roses and his music. Mark keeps an incredible rose garden and is a talented composer. He feels old by West Hollywood standards, stutters, and doesn’t feel worthy of being loved.
Then Mark bumps into a struggling musician, PAUL, 30s, at the market. To Mark’s surprise Paul is actually flirting with him. At first Mark is shy and reluctant, but after another unplanned meeting, the two men spark a connection.
What Mark doesn’t know is that his sleazy upstairs neighbor, DAVID, also has his eyes on Paul, but for a different reason. David has made a wager with his employer that he can bed Paul within three weeks. To achieve this goal David borrows a song written by Mark, copies it, puts his name on it, and gives it to Paul as his own.
The stolen song is a huge hit, and Paul gets signed by an agent who promises to make him a star. David wins his bet, but now is blackmailing Paul for sex. As long as Paul satisfies him, he can use the song.
Thanks to David’s scheming… Paul has no idea that the song really belongs to Mark… and Mark has no idea that Paul is using his song to launch his career.
Until the night of the concert…
At Paul’s invitation, Mark attends Paul’s first concert. He hears Paul singing the song he wrote and leaves, upset and angry. Even worse… he catches Paul naked in David’s apartment the next morning when he goes to confront David on the theft of his song.
Mark is devastated. Was Paul just using him to get his hands on his song?
With Fran’s help, David’s lies are finally exposed. Mark and Paul make up and declare their love for each other.
