Nyle Cavazos Garcia, born in Caldwell, Idaho, attended Boise State University under scholarship where he founded Small Town Pictures. Nyle's first short film, WEDDING NIGHT, won Best Short Film at the 1997 Nell Shipman Awards in Boise, Idaho. Nyle then relocated to New York, where he worked in production on independent films for Lion's Gate, Good Machine and The Shooting Gallery. Nyle continued to write and direct short films such as HUMIDITY (2000 Official Selection: Brooklyn International Film Festival, Nashville Film Festival, Long Island Film Festival), and THE SUPPORT GROUP (2002 Official Selection: Sundance Film Festival). Also in 2000-2002, Nyle produced, edited and shot the feature film, COWBOY. Nyle then relocated to Hollywood and produced his feature film directorial debut, CLEAN, 2004. CLEAN went on to win a bounty of top awards at various film festivals (VisionFest New York Film Festival, DIY Hollywood Film Festival, Rhode Island International Film Festival, Park City Film Music Festival, Sacramento International Film Festival and Beverly Hills Film Festival). Upon his return to New York, Nyle directed two short horror films, THE DARK, 2008, and BLEEDING, 2009, both of which premiered at VisionFest New York Film Festival respectively. Nyle's dramatic 35mm short film, A LONG ROAD, inspired by a true story, was an Official Selection at Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival and New Jersey Golden Door Film Festival, and will soon be available on DVD. Nyle's latest project is the DSLR online miniseries, MARY'S JOURNAL, which is a reboot of his 1996 student film of the same name. MARY'S JOURNAL - EPISODE 1: CONNECTED had its worldwide premiere at TriBeCa Cinemas as part of the 2010 VisionFest New York Film Festival, and was an Official Selection at NewFilmmakers Series in NYC, New York City International Film Festival and FirstGlance Philadelphia Film Festival. Nyle recently co-wrote, directed and produced the short dark comedy, THE MAN WITH THE RED RIGHT HAND, which is currently in post-production.
Nyle's short films: WEDDING NIGHT, HUMIDITY, THE DARK, BLEEDING and A LONG ROAD will be released on DVD in 2012 as the dramatic thriller anthology, DARK PASSENGER: VOLUME 1.
