Housewives of Bombay
Film
(Drama)
Writer Housewives of Bombay' is a short documentary that aims to capture the subversive feminism buried in the lives of Bombay's housewives. As the feminist movement today is grappling to define itself, this documentary aims to take a look at the invaluable contributions made by so many women who are often called 'jobless'. The contributions of these housewives are unfortunately unable to receive monetary compensation, and coupled with easily available free labor in India, these women are carelessly misjudged by friends, family, their partners and saddest of all, their female counterparts. By speaking with various housewives and bringing their stories to life, Housewives of Bombay aims to reshape the idea of what a feminist woman truly is. Written by Jhanvi Motla
