About Michael

Mike got his start as a writer when he took a 6 month internship/workshop with Peter Behrens in 1999 at The Praxis Center for Screenwriters. His first screenplay The Isle of Man was a quarter-finalist at the 2003 American Screenplay Competition, and was subsequently optioned by Jacob Isser Productions LLC, Los Angeles. He then co-wrote with Shawn McLaughlin the supernatural thriller script Birnamwood, which was optioned in 2008 by ReFrame Entertainment (and took 3rd place in the Horror/Thriller category in the 2012 Fresh Voices Screenplay Competition). In 2009, Mike and Shawn co-wrote the horror script Widow Lake, which won the Grand Prize at the LA Screenplay Festival in 2011. Mike is currently working with Shawn and director Kirk Caouette to produce Trigger Happy (http://www.trigger-happy.ca/), a script he co-wrote with Shawn.
