After doing his undergraduate and graduate studies in the field of economics at Northwestern University and the University of Southern California respectively, Okan Altıparmak found the opportunity to switch over to the motion picture world thanks to the industry connections he made in Los Angeles.
Following four years of acting at the prestigious Sal Dano Workshop, taught by the late legendary acting coach Sal Dano himself, Okan toiled as a production assistant in a multitude of motionpicture productions. He then moved on to the renowned production companies, Fields+Helland and Outlaw Productions, where he did script coverage while also learning how to develop and budget motion picture projects. He simultaneously continued his acting career in the local LA theatre scene, where he played leading roles in several plays.
Entering the Turkish TV scene as the producer of the sports talk show named "Ogün'le Football - Football with Ogun" in 1999, Altiparmak finally stepped into the Turkish motion picture world with a documentary on Turkish soccer fans, released theatrically nationwide in November 2005.
