About Kelsea

As an overly cautious kid, Kelsea Mayfield lived vicariously through the lives of her favorite fictional characters. Their personalities often resembled the vibrant and passionate Black and Panamanian women in her family. A genre television writer, Kelsea writes horror (mysteries/thrillers), with story themes include intergenerational trauma and a sense of longing. The characters in her pilots have been described as "lived in," and she has been commended on her "marvelous control of pace and mood."

Kelsea is a writer on the upcoming horror anthology web series, TALES FROM THE OTHERSIDE. Her original pilot, DOUBLE NEGATIVE, has placed in the semifinals for the 2021 WeScreenplay Diverse Voices Lab, the 2019 Austin Film Festival Drama Teleplay competition and the 2020 CineStory TV Retreat & Fellowship as well as the quarterfinals in the 2021 Screencraft TV Pilot Script Competition. She has also self-published a comic book, available for purchase on Amazon Kindle.

Kelsea is currently a Showrunner's Assistant on Starz's RUN THE WORLD. Previously, she was a Writer's PA on Starz's HIGHTOWN and worked in the Location department on ABC's STATION 19 and Hulu's NINE PERFECT STRANGERS. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, spending time with her family, and pretending she knows how to garden. She aims to staff and gain representation.
