Once upon a time, in the late 80s and early 90s, Marcas was a forester and a forest firefighter on a Hotshot Crew and as a sawyer.
Years later, Marcas retired and turned his typing fingers to crafting screenplays. His first effort netted him a Semifinalist in ScreenCraft's Cinematic Short Story Contest, title: I Was A Teenage Werepossum (2017):
He then decided to turn THAT short story entry into a short script entry which was a Quarter-finalist in Shore Script's Short Screenplay Contest 2018
Marcas was recently a FINALIST in Writers of the Future Volume # 37 Q3, the world's premier contest for finding new science fiction and fantasy writers, with a FANTASY story. This story is currently a submission pilot circulating in contests.
