About Christel

I was born in the Netherlands and I am currently living in Hawaii. I am a martial artist and acupuncturist. I got my Bachelor Degree in 1992 in visual arts, at the Maastricht Academy of Arts. This is where I wrote my final paper on Virtual Reality and its possibilities. I then reflected on ideas that are in fact now becoming reality in the current developments of technology. In that sense, I am a visionary. Interestingly enough, fifteen years after writing that paper, the things I ‘predicted’ in fact became a reality in my personal life when ‘consciousness hacked technology’ and I was able to communicate through my laptop screen to my lover from his coma, for an extended period of time. I wrote a memoir about it: “Forty-Nine Days”.
To get the story about this extraordinary experience out into the world I was part of the Hawaii Creative Lab Transmedia program in 2017. And this is where I realized how the story would greatly benefit from a film. My focus is to give the audience a transformative experience and expand their perception beyond what they believe is possible. The last year I have been fully submerging myself into screenwriting and want to learn as much as possible to convey my ideas. My focus is on the possibilities of technology and telepathy, and our understanding of our reality. I am working on the screenplay with a film director.
I want to reach a broad audience that will resonate with stories about new paradigms and development in technology. I like to write about empowering female characters with sincerity and complexity. I like to write about anything new and strange, but intelligent and emotionally honest. I am particularly interested in stories that really happened, with a twist that will leave the audience wondering what is real?
