Till Schmerbeck

Till Schmerbeck has studied film production at well-known German “Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg” specializing in the area of creative producing in feature films and TV-series.
 
DAS VERLANGEN, his first feature film in 2002, directed by Iain Dilthey was the main winner of A-Festival Locarno (Golden Leopard 2002). His graduation film called HELDEN IN GUMMISTIEFELN (HEROES IN RUBBER BOOTS) has finished for German broadcast SWR/arte in 2005 winning the "Erich-Kästner-Fernsehpreis" for the best children program in German speaking TV 2005. His co-production BLINDFLUG (dir. Ben von Grafenstein) opened Berlin film festival section "Perspektive Deutsches Kino" in 2007. RESISTÉ! – AUFSTAND DER PRAKTIKANTEN with leading actress Katharina Wackernagel was released 2009 in German theaters.
For “U5 Filmproduktion” in Frankfurt Schmerbeck was line producer for the documentary HARMONY featuring His Royal Highness Charles, King of Wales. The co-production with Balcony Films in Los Angeles (directed by former Oscar nominee Stuart Sender) was produced for NBC/Universal. From 2013-2016 Schmerbeck was producer for Stephan Wagner's company "carte blanche Film" located at Studio Babelsberg. He produced primetime German TV movies like TATORT: HUNDSTAGE reaching nearly 10million of German viewers or WER AUFGIBT IST TOT for German broadcasters ARD Degeto/SWR.
Until 2016 Schmerbeck was responsible for producing the German Directors Guild award show "Deutscher Regiepreis Metropolis" in Munich and the famous Berlinale Party "Directors Night".
 
In 2018 producer Till Schmerbeck founded his production label SCHMERBECK ENTERTAINMENT, the first production company specializing for GENRE/HORROR movies out of Germany.
He finished the first German horror movie with state funding called HEILSTÄTTEN. The co-production with “Fox International Productions” was released by “20th Century Fox” in Feb 2018 staring German young actors like Sonja Gerhardt, Tim Oliver Schultz, Nilam Farooq and Lisa-Marie Koroll. The movie had over 1.3 mio. admissions worldwide and was extremely successful in Mexico and other Latin America countries under the title EL MANICOMIO. According to admissions Schmerbeck produced the most successful German movie abroad in 2019.
The horror project BLUE AS YOUR BLOOD with director Ivan Sainz-Pardo won “Sitges Pitchbox 2020” for Best Feature Film.
His new thriller feature SOUL STRIP starring Gizem Emre and Erkan Acar is in postproduction und will released in German theaters in 2024.

Till Schmerbeck is an independent producer in Berlin looking for low-budget-projects, especially in the genre HORROR.
