Robert Hardy

Robert Hardy is a Vancouver-based writer, producer and development consultant with a broad focus on scripted drama and comedy; docu-reality and competition series. He is the co-owner of Perfect Day Productions with his wife and production partner, Cheryl Binning.

So far in 2012 Robert has contributed as a writer, creative producer, creative consultant and story editor on series and pilots for networks as diverse as OWN, History, HGTV, OLN, Nat Geo, Food Network Canada, Discovery Health, and W Network.

Robert served as CTV’s Manager of Western Development for several years, where he led the development and production of dozens of documentaries, movies of the week and series. His credits at CTV include Executive in Charge of Production of Defying Gravity (a co-venture with ABC, BBC and Fox TV Studios) and Gemini award-winning and nominated productions including the movies Ejijah and Playing For Keeps, and documentaries like Hockey Brawl: Battle on Thin Ice, There’s Something Out There, and Music Rising.

Robert has also served as Vice-President of Development at Paperny Films, where he led the development of series for networks like History Television, W Network, Discovery Channel and Slice.

Before moving into production, Robert was Director of Corporate Development for the National Screen Institute – Canada, where he was instrumental in the creation of programs like NSI Totally Television, NSI Global Marketing and the late FilmExchange Film Festival. He has also worked in advertising, PR and government relations; directed commercials; and did short-lived stints as a shopping mall Santa Claus, ceiling fan salesman and speech writer.
