Michael Butts was born in Libertyville, Illinois, and began pursuing his love for film at the young age of ten, creating home videos with his dad’s VHS camera. After high school, Michael attended York Technical College in Rock Hill, South Carolina, graduating with a technical certificate in Teleproduction Technologies. He then worked four years as technical director for CN2 News. Michael joined the U.S. Army at the age of 26, where he served his country for four years. Afterwards, he moved to Tennessee and attended the Nashville Film Institute, graduating with a degree in Cinema Production in October of 2014. Upon graduating NFI, Michael produced and directed “Hair of the Dog”, a short horror film that went on to win several awards in the film festival circuit. Michael has since furthered his education by obtaining an A.A.S. in Video Production at Volunteer State Community College, and through his LLC, One Bandit Productions, has produced several more award-winning short films including “Quitting”, “Cold Snap”, and “Potter’s Ground”.
Michael has also worked extensively in music videos, commercials, industrials, and reality television, most recently filming in international locations for “Where in the World is Colorado Buck?”.
He is currently in production for his first feature project and is scheduled to Produce and Direct 3 additional Feature Films in 2019.
