About Gustavo

Gustavo grew up in Brazil with multi-millionaire parents that went bankrupt when he was a pre-teen. Just like that, his biggest fear shifted from a communist revolution to becoming homeless. Luckily, he fell in love and everything got better. Only to have his engagement broken off at 17… But struggle makes you funnier. Right? His optimism is why he writes comedies about the upside of loss.

Gustavo got a film degree with honors at the University of California Santa Barbara, and straight out of the BA he started an MFA in writing for the screen and television at the University of Southern California. As a writer, he has worked under Michael Miner (RoboCop) and Mitchell Kriegman (Saturday Night Live, Clarissa Explains It All,) and as a Story Analyst, he served as a judge for 2021’s Slamdance Screenplay Competition.
