About AJ

A.J. Perez is a 33 year veteran of the home entertainment industry. He began his career with Video Products Distributors at the age of 19 and at 24 became the youngest Branch Manager for its Long Beach Facility and held that position for 5 years . He then was hired by Ingram Entertainment as its only non- corporate buyer and managed their West Coast purchasing for four facilities across Southern California with a budget of over 20 million dollars per month. This spend consisted of everything from new releases, catalog, accessories and in-store shelving solutions. In early 1990, he joined Xenon Pictures as their Director of Distribution Sales and soon thereafter became Vice President of Sales. Mr. Perez’ responsibilities also included content acquisition and during his tenure was responsible for acquiring their biggest sellers, Above the Rim, Thug Immortal- The Tupac Shakur Story and their vast Kung-Fu library increasing Xenon's sales from 800,000 per year to over 10
million dollars within twelve months.
In 1998, Mr. Perez started his own company, Ground-Zero Enterprises and through 2005 Mr. Perez acquired the largest library of Kung Fu Cinema, Urban Features and produced urban pop- culture content such as The Slim Shady Show with Eminem, Gangstresses with Mary J. Blige and Lil’ Kim, The Wu-Tang Clan Presents DVD series, The MTV video of the year (Chronicles of Junior MAFIA), BIG PUN :Still Not a Player and Blazin' starring Fat Joe.

In 2007 Mr. Perez became a consultant for independent labels and in 2010 joined Hannover House to assist with their distribution sales. His first acquisitions were the horror-genre hits, Legend of Boggy Creek and Humans Vs Zombies, in addition, Mr. Perez was responsible for the 1.5 million dollars in revenue for a cross marketing release with Sea World for Hannover’s "Turtle The Incredible Journey" documentary. During the same period Mr. Perez established a relationship with Phase 4 Films and secured Hannover’s foothold into Wal-Mart and other large 4 wall retailers.

In 2012 Mr. Perez was hired by Origin Releasing as its President and immediately signed a service agency agreement with Phase 4 Films/E-One Films. In 2014 Origin's owner wanted to shift into production, resulting in Bigfoot Wars and Dead Sea being produced and released. In 2015, Origin's Owner sold the catalog rights to Mr. Perez and turned his attention to film making . Mr. Perez created Splash House Pictures for Distribution and Production and in association with Chasing Butterflies Pictures, oversaw the Christian film production, Into the Darkness, which was sold to PURE FLIX. In 2016. Mr. Perez wrote and produced the home-grown terrorism film CHECK POINT starring Bill Goldberg and Kenny Johnson. It was distributed by SONY Pictures and also licensed to NETFLIX. In 2017 he produced, JUSTICE, a western, starring Stephen Lang and Jamie Lynn-Sigler and it was sold to Universal Pictures.

Mr. Perez continues his licensing of content and is in several stages of development for several properties including Kenzo: The Ronin Bounty Hunter of the Wild West TV Series and has partnered with Mexico's Department of Economic Development and Tourism for a long-term arrangement to help reboot its Film Industry for more internationally appealing content which is currently being planned for pre-production in Q1 2019.
