We are all Inventors. I’ve found that we don’t really need to be told. We want to be asked. Every question is a prompt to create. Every statement turns back into a possibility; every idea a seed. There are no products… just more prompts, more questions, more rising and ebbing feelings, more construction noise, more road ahead. “What’s he building in there?” This road can never find its end. It must regenerate itself as we weave through space, the Builders of Vision: seeing and building as forever unfolds. Watching what’s happening around us, artists build the road for society, as we go: hybridizing and collating ideation and ethos as it drops from the ethers in front of the ploughs of the human mind. We put the path down that the Inventors see as they drive toward a mythic ambit in search of the illusory cohesive world-view. We are the recordist, arranging the room, guiding the band through the burning of the beautiful record of our fraught emotional depth. Our task is to cut neural grooves in the record of the collective music. To listen deeply, carefully, to the songs of joy, suffering, and complacency; put it all together on a map that can be used to plot a Life. Not toward some “home”, and not aimed at some end point. Home is not a set place. Home is wherever humans create. Home moves with us. Home moves us. We are always on the move as the skies darken and brighten… and darken again. Ourstory is always writing, as we madly tap the compass. We’re the cartographer, on a mission to plot the Mariana Trench. We are the Explorer’s Assistant. A healthy relationship between pencil and ruler must be our paramount concern.
