About Sarah

Sarah Hartman-Naar is a Florida based writer and producer by way of New York City. She first studied writing at New York University’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and supplemented her skills by completing the writing programs at Upright Citizens Brigade and The Peoples Improv Theater in New York City. During her time in New York, she wrote six live shows that had lengthy runs at The Peoples Improv Theater, and wrote and produced a one-woman show that debuted at Upright Citizens Brigade. The show included several digital media elements, and producing these micro-short films gave her a taste for working behind the scenes. After the show, Sarah moved to Miami to pursue her MFA in Motion Pictures. While in Miami, Sarah paired up with fellow filmmaker and now husband Scott Alexander Naar to become a writing and filmmaking team. They’ve become accomplished filmmakers with several years of experience between them. As a team, they’ve written, produced and directed seven short films and two feature films, including one that filmed in Athens, Greece in May 2018.
Their films have won several awards at various festivals, including “Best Film,” (Missed Connection, 2017, & Goldfish, 2017), “Best Director,” (Hallie, 2018), “Best Actress,” (Goldfish, 2017), and “Best Actor (Hallie, 2018), and have played at various festivals, including Yonkers International Film Festival, Key West International Film Festival, Miami Shorts Film Festival, Atlanta Sci-Fi Festival, and Reel Recovery Film Festival & Symposium in Los Angeles.
Sarah also has a lot of experience in editing and post-production, and frequently enjoys taking freelance opportunities in this field, because it allows her to work from home with her cat.
Her next project is a feature length horror film titled “the eyes,” which she co-wrote with her husband.
