I wish to stay in touch with Stage 32!
I really want to write and be well know for it. I don't care for fame but I want to reinforce a message to millions of people that its normal to feel like an outcast, and like a loner. I have some really incredible ideas that I feel will spark interest and I can't wait for people to see what I'm working on!
Well I'm sure I won't be publishing any books off of my cell phone, and there's always some arrogant know it all who thinks himself smart enough to throw stones at others as if that will somehow make them look better to others who I am sure could proof and edit any works that would be sold.
Yes, you can and always should have other people proof and edit, no one is perfect. People who cannot write, edit :-) Just kidding, stay positive out there

Good tension & acting, particulary the long-haired guy. Nick Simons
Does anyone know where/how to learn accents? Audio or dvd's? I am interested in creating more varieties in my roles, as I recently had a few people ask me what accents I can do and how good I am at them. Didn't know it was relevant. Most actors I know are trying to get rid of their accents lol.
Annika, it is very good topic. My idea is to work one and one with people from different countries. www.AIFFest.org
Hi Annika, accent coach Amy Walker with "21 accents" has her videos on YouTube. While you can hire her and I bet, she's not cheap either, she has tons of free videos on YouTube. She's awesome!

She really gives you the rundown of how a particular accent is different and what you gotta pay attention to. I listen to that a few times, choose a few particular clips that are especially helpful for me and than do them all day basically. Note: The people interviewed in her CD's are actual locals of the area of whichever accent the CD's for. And, btw, lol Annika, how many Hungarians are out there? Hehe.

Nothing compares to standing in front of an audience and giving them out my soul, or knowing how some of my recordings have touched them. And yes, between being The Diva of a festival and other well paid gigs, there are extra jobs in silly commercials, and worries of how to pay my son's school - but The Show Must Go On. My dreams include singing the theme song of a major movie (or two :-) ) or even maybe act. But even if that does happen, I can never forget those countless moments you are referring to: the smiles, tears, hugs, kisses, blessings, thankful and speechless glances when people heard me busking in the streets, or that 80+ year old ladies singing along with bright eyes when I was performing at an elderly home... I think all of us here have some similar stories to tell and these make all the difference; that's how we feed peoples' hearts.
Excellent article, ,gives a clear picture of life on set, the waiting, the technical hitches, how you conserve your energy for that moment when 'action' is called, then giving the same energy and truth on the 10th takes as you did on the first! Nick Simons
Hi Andrea, thanks so much for reading the blog! It is great to hear from a singer, and I love what you said at the end: "that's how we feed peoples' hearts." Break a leg, fellow artist!
And thank you, Nick, for the kind words! Best of luck out there!

I pay $125 a year to be on IMDB so you will know what I have done lately and that yes I am reason that Twelve Years a Slave won best picture and the reason True Detective is the number one cable show. I pay $450 a year to be on the casting sites and about $600 a year to keep my head shots current so you know what I look like today and I don't waste your time. I spend $150 a month for acting training, plus rehearsing scene workshops to keep the skills honed that I spent over 5 years at $350 a month mastering, ready for your movie. I've been a fighter and stunt player, stunt coordinated countless films, and spent thousands on stunt equipment and months in the hospital injured. I spend about $4 in gas and $2 in parking to do an audition for you. So when you want me to come make your movie for free or deferred, I think it is understandable that I might want to throw you out a window! You,re Welcome!

That said there are many highly talented actors of all ages that have not a credit that an indie filmmakers can audition to get a film made and funded. It is a win win for all, and many careers are started this way.

Expand commentTom, well said! 'If you are a film maker then get funding and hire your talent'. 2013 I was cast in two Indie films. In both cases the funding came from a baker plus savings from jobs in the industry. Both film makers wrote their own scripts, directed and produced. We were paid £25 per filming day, and the remaining £175 per filming day will be paid when the Initial Production Budget has been achieved. Both directors are highly sought after to work with, which clinched the deal for many of us who were offered the parts. I come to the conclusion that actors could take a cut if the script is brilliant and the director a genius. Otherwise no pay, no play!
I'll be opening next week in a play called "Heresy" AT THE TABARD THEATRE, Turnham Green , Chiswick. London. It plays Tuesday _Saturday 7.30pm till March 23rd. Thom, you've just blown my mind, the fluidity and honesty of telling your story is 'gobbsmacking' & inspiring! I wish you every success you are capable of & suspect you are capable of many more, also, I wish you joy, growth and nurture in your love relationship. Man you are f--king inspiration. Thank you. Nick Simons
Back at you, Nick! thanks for reaching out.
Very cool read, really enjoyed. Thanks for posting Richard. A lot of good advice there... ."I looked to others to tell me, what I knew myself all along".
I really agree with all the above! A really excellent description of how this amazing work can be. Telling stories as a group is what we do, whether it be theater, film,TV or opera, etc & to me its one of the most important jobs going!! Thanks, Thom. Nick Simons
it is amazing, Nick. thanks for reaching out.
This sounds a great approach to tackling the movie moguls & distribution jerks! Nick Simons
It certainly gave us more control over more pieces of the puzzle, Nick. :)
