About Roxanne

I am a criminal trial specialist and investigator for Houston law firm Looney, Smith & Conrad who won the prestigious Harris County Criminal Lawyers of the Year award. I prepare criminal trials by interviewing witnesses, investigating case details and organizing criminal defense information.

One of those criminal cases occurred May 17, 2015 at a Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco Texas when nine people died, 20 were severely injured and 177 indicted. Our law firm initially became involved because bonds were set excessively high at $1 million each. Later we became a major force in the injustices and assisted six clients pro-bono. We also assisted many people who were arrested by replacing their court appointed lawyers with some of the best criminal lawyers in Texas who also took their cases pro bono.

After outlining nine terabytes of discovery, I was the leading researcher for lawyers for criminal defense and the main contact for national and international media.

“The Waco Biker Shootout Left Nine Dead. Why Was No One Convicted?” from the February 27, 2022 issue of the New York Times magazine is that story.

I graduated from of the University of Oklahoma Gaylord College of Journalism with a degree in professional writing. With many years of experience in writing, marketing, public relations and management, I am also a magazine free-lance writer. I am a Life Member of the University of Oklahoma Alumni Association, Delta Gamma sorority and American Business Clubs (AMBUCS).

I graduated from the ScreenwritingU’s Master certification program and wrote my first true crime script, “The Drug Lord,” a full-length feature film. My second script, “Geronimo,” is optioned by a producer/director and is in production as a pilot for an 8-part docu-series. A podcast is under development. I am currently co-writing a pilot with a WGA writer in Los Angeles for an 8-part series for Season 1 about the Waco Twin Peaks shootout and also am writing a full-length book on the subject.

Unique traits: With the unique job of being a criminal trial specialist, true crime stories consistently come into my life. As an investigator, I gather details of crimes from case discovery and have the court documents and/or actual trial experience to write scripts. I also have access to the people involved. My background is how true crime stories are developed and produced.
