A man trying to defeat death lives a magical and unfortunate tale that makes him reevaluate his life.

SYNOPSIS:

Uvieta, a clever but stubborn solitary man in his early sixties, has a personal war againts La Comadrita (The Grim Reaper) because she took away everything he loved (his mother, and his grilfriend). Bored of his rutinary life he decides to go out and explore the world he does not know yet, in company of his imaginary friend Tío Conejo (Uncle Rabbit). He prepares his clothes and three bread rolls for the road; but before he can leave the house he receives the visit of three people: an old-timer, a hungry old woman and a skinny and dirty boy, who ask for alms and to whom Uvieta gives them his three bread rolls. These three people turn out to be the three divine people (Joseph, Mary and Jesus) who as a reward for the good action done by Uvieta give him three gifts, a tree of grapes from which no one can get off without his permission, a magic sack that is filled with everything he asks for, and the chance to die when he decides.

These three gifts will be used by Uvieta to satisfy his own selfish desires to the point of becoming a person with a heart of stone, who cares nothing but his own well-being.

Seeing God the kind of person that Uvieta has become, decides that it is time for Uvieta to come to give an account of his actions. God sends La comadrita (The Grim Repaer) to take him to his presence, but Uvieta realizes that she is coming for him and sees an opportunity to have his revenge. He tricks death into climbing the grape tree and she is trapped there until Uvieta wants it. Time passes by and the world begins to fill up with older adults because no one dies. God sends several of his angels to convince Uvieta to let La Comadrita get down from the grape tree, but none manages to convince him. Finally God tired of not seeing positive results sends El Diablo (the Devil) to take him away. Uvieta realizes that the Devil is coming to take him to hell because of the bad actions he has committed, and before the devil can react he traps him inside the sack and gives him a beating that leaves him in a mess. As soon as the Devil has a chance, escapes form Uvieta runing away as fast as he can, without looking back.

A few days later, God sends La Comadrita back to bring Uvieta to his presence. This time she waits for Uvieta to be asleep and takes him to heaven.
