About David

I started this journey when I was a child. I always knew writing is a part of me but didn’t realize what type of a writer I would become.  I daydreamed about being in a tropical environment with my electric IBM typewriter and writing.  Nerdy as it sounds, it was my dream as a nine-year-old boy.

In my teens, my love of movies developed as my consciousness matured.   In high school, I wrote a 3-act play, and the class. performed it in front of the student body.  I was hooked.  In college, I took a screenwriting class from a TV writer and wrote a feature film script.  The teacher noticed me and introduced me to his producer friend.  The script was raw, but the producer saw I had talent.

My mother wanted me to have a real job.  I went into computer studies, began working in desktop and network support, and eventually started my own IT company. Screenwriting was pushed back to the back burner.

I was born with Cerebral Palsy.  Having C.P. provided me excellent opportunities to observe people and situations.  Being disabled, sometimes I’m overlooked and invisible while in plain sight.  Most of the time, I can be the proverbial “fly on the wall.”  Surviving my need to live life on the edge, I’m now able to use my experiences and a bit of wisdom to add empathy and diversity to my writing.

I developed a TV series and completed the pilot - an historical biopic drama, MADAM TOY.  I’m marketing and talking with producers. I’m finishing a comedy feature and starting to outline a thriller feature.

My education so far includes:
• Master Screenwriter Certificate at ScreenwritingU.
• Binge-Worthy TV at ScreenwritingU
• Comedy genre class
• Thriller genre class
• Dialog workshop
• Pitch Lab at Stage 32
• Countless webinars

I believe there’s always room to elevate my craft.
